PGA EuroPro Tour partners with The School Of Golf

The PGA EuroPro Tour has announced a partnership with The School Of Golf highlighting the Tour’s investment in grassroots golf.

The School Of Golf will provide expert sessions to local children at schools near to clubs on this season’s tour free of charge opening a gateway to golf for young people who may not have been introduced to the game.

The two founders of The School Of Golf, Matt Mahoney and Jack Cole are PGA Professionals who have vast experience working with children in schools across the UK as well as working with England Golf, Mencap and Golf Roots.

They believe it’s a fantastic opportunity: “We are hoping to create more junior engagement and participation, introduce juniors who have never played the game. Following on from this we will give schools the opportunity to continue development with online content. Overall we want to open golf up to as many juniors as possible and create a positive experience.”

“With us all working together we feel we can reach out to as many juniors as possible on a much larger scale and retain junior golfers for the future.  The partnership is vital for all parties to grow junior golf.”

Tour CEO Dan Godding said: “We’re committed to growing the game of golf at a grassroots level and partnering with The School Of Golf offers an ideal opportunity to do just that. The resources we have put behind this means it’ll be free to the children therefore potentially sparking a love for the game for someone who may not necessarily have the opportunity.”

A typical session will entail groups being split up to focus on the fundamentals of the game from the grip, aim and set up with fast-paced games throughout keeping children engaged, active and enjoying themselves.

The School Of Golf will be reaching out in due course to local schools close to venues with the following events seeing the School of Golf during the week.

  • Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf & Spa
  • Donnington Grove
  • Chart Hills Golf Club
  • Clevedon Golf Club
  • East Sussex National
  • Studley Wood Golf Club

The School has already seen success stories with PGA EuroPro Tour Professional Will Percival working his way through the school finishing runner up at the La Gonda trophy. Erin Earl went on to represent Essex girls at multiple ages, and England girls competitions. She recently gained a Golf Scholarship to U.S.A – West Virginia University.
