History
After taking over the developmental Europro Tour in 2001, Matchroom Sport linked up with the Professional Golfers Association to form the third level of professional tournament golf in Europe - the PGA Europro Tour.
The concept of the PGA Europro Golf Tour is to allow aspiring young professional golfers the opportunity to play in major televised tournaments on a highly competitive European circuit. All PGAEPT events are televised and broadcast as 14 x two-hour programmes with the Tour Championship going out as a two hour special.
In existence for over 20 years now, the PGA Europro Tour has proved a real launch pad for young European golfers as EPT graduates such as Lee Westwood, David Howell, Scott Drummond, Graeme Storm, Richard Finch, Ross Fisher, Louis Oosthuizen and Marc Warren have all gone on to win on the European Tour.
High finishers on the annual Europro Tour Order of Merit gain spots on the Challenge Tour – the next tour up on European golf’s pyramid. In addition, the top players will also receive exemptions at the annual European Tour Qualifying School.
The PGA Europro Tour runs from April and continues through spring and summer, culminating in the big-money Tour Championship in October.
