GREATEST SNOOKER TRICKSHOTS
PARTYCASINO.COM PREMIER LEAGUE SNOOKER
Matchroom Sport's Premier League Snooker celebrated its 24th successful season in 2009.
England's Shaun Murphy defeated World No.1 Ronnie O'Sullivan, who had lifted the coveted trophy on the previous five occasions.
With the snooker calendar shrinking by the year, this unique event has added incentive as the top players in the game go head-to-head.
The 2009 line-up featured a number of World Champions plus some of the game's up-and-coming stars competing in a unique round-robin format.
There are two points for a win and one for a draw, with the top four competitors advancing into the play-offs. The semi-finals and final, coupled with the 21 league matches, produce 24 x two-hour programmes.
Previous winners include Stephen Hendry, who has won it six times, and Steve Davis, who has picked up the title on four occasions. Irishman Ken Doherty has won it twice with John Higgins, Marco Fu and Jimmy White completing the roll of honour.
The highly incentivised format includes £1,000 per frame won with an additional £1,000 if there is a century break included. The League is played out over ten nights from September to November with the play-offs taking place in early December.
The League also features snooker's first ever shot clock with the players having just 25 seconds to execute their shot, with a five-point penalty awaiting transgressors.
In addition to the live coverage on Thursday evenings, Matchroom Sport produce 24 two-hour programmes complete with commentary and graphics. The coverage involves twelve cameras, including pocket cameras, EVS replays and state-of-the-art graphics.
