Fish'O'Mania Home International Result - 17/07/2011
TEAM ENGLAND took the inaugural PartyPoker.com Home International with a masterclass in match angling at Cudmore Fisheries, Stoke.
The team of Alan Scotthorne, Will Raison, Des Shipp and Steve Hemingray weight in with a combined aggregate of 95.89 kg, over seven kilos more than their nearest rivals Scotland.
The England team won a total of £10,000 for their efforts, while Will Raison won a £1,000 for landing the biggest fish of the day, a 6.85 kg carp. The big-hearted team have vowed to use the majority of their win to finance the England Ladies and Juniors sides’ respective trips to the World Championships.
England Team Manager Mark Addy said, “Every time we changed tactics we did it exactly right. It was a magnificent effort from everyone.”
In the overall tally of the 16 anglers, Raison came in third, Shipp fourth, Hemingray fifth and Alan Scotthorne ninth, which was good enough for the win.
Scotland made a real match of it in a performance described by Sky pundit Tommy Pickering as the finest performance he had ever seen from a Scottish team.
